25 Ascot Street

A project for a lovely family, who had lived in the 1880’s Thorndon cottage for a while and wanted to stay there, but the attic rooms were too small for future living! So the gable ended roof was lifted 600mm, and a north and a south dormer added. All of the new joinery is timber and double glazed, but in the style of the existing Victorian windows and doors. A new family shower room, a study looking out over Wellington, and 2 bedrooms all sit comfortably up in this very special attic space. The bedrooms have views over the city and up to the botanical gardens.
